English Toffee

2 C. sugar
1 lb. butter
1 lg. pkg of chocolate chips
Enough sliced almonds to cover a 9 X 13 baking sheet.

Melt butter in a large pan.  Add sugar in one direction only.  Do not scrap sides of pan while stirring.  Cook over medium high heat, stirring constantly until mixture smokes.  If it hasn't smoked, it's not done.  pour into pan, cover with chocolate chips and when melted, crushed almonds.
